Tubeless systems maintain an airtight seal through a combination of tubeless specific tyres and tubeless tape, however, this seal can become compromised when the tape is not seated precisely on the rim. In these instances, air in the tyre moves into the deep rim cavity and becomes pressurised. Once this pressure exceeds a certain threshold it will damage the rim – carbon rims are particularly susceptible to sidewall delamination in these cases.
In order to eliminate the potential for this accidental rim damage in tubeless setups, ENVE have developed this ingenious valve stem nut which utilises four fluted openings on the inner diameter, enabling air trapped in the rim cavity to be released safely.
